[Yayoi is taking a break from her job at the inn and is sitting outside. She's sitting on a bench with a green pokemon egg wrapped around a towel on her lap. While she's egg sitting, she has her sketchbook out as her Mareep and Clefairy play. If anyone is curious and looks over her shoulder, they can see a sketch of said pokemon.]

Oh Candy, Kuru, stay close by okay? 

[The two give a nod and continue to play though, the poor Clefairy learns the hard way not to mess around with a Mareep's wool too much. Yayoi doesn't even notice as she continues to draw.]

I just got myself a pokemon egg and it's my first one. I've been reading up on how to raise one but is there any advice anyone wants to share?

Maybe one of your Pokémon will be good at taking care of it. I know whenever I have an egg, my Ursaring makes sure it stays safe and warm and stuff.

Maybe but neither of my pokemon don't want to from what I can tell. Candy does have wool but they might be electrically charged since she's a Mareep. I don't want hurt it..

Well, basically, you just have to, like... make sure it stays warm, and don't let it get banged around or anything. You could pack it in your bag in a blanket or a towel, maybe.

Oh so it is just like a regular egg. It's pretty cool to be holding onto an egg like this. I can't wait for it hatch!

I guess so. I've never hatched a regular egg before.

What kinda egg is it? D'you know?

The guy said it was a Petilil egg. He happened to be giving away a few eggs and I looked them. I'm still kind of new to the trainer thing though.

Hmm I guess both but I just got this egg. I know I should keep it warm and everything but I wonder if there are other ways to help it out.]

Well, keeping it warm and making sure it doesn't fall down are pretty obvious, but well, other than that there's really not that much to do.

As for taking care of a baby pokémon, well, I'm not going to lie. They can be a bit of a handful at times. And most advice can't really be generalized, since every pokémon species is different...

Any idea what type of pokémon is in the egg?

Um yes, I got a Petilil actually. I'm still new to training in general, to be honest but I thought I could use a balanced team. I only have my mareep and clefairy so far.

Hmm... a plant type.

If it's anything like my Bayleaf was as a baby, it's really going to like the sun and water, and well, pokémon food meant for plant types is obviously going to be what you'll want to feed it. Since they still need to eat some food.

And having a balanced teem is definitely a good idea! You're definitely on the way so far. Though you might want to get another pokémon if you're planning on challenging Falkner eventually. Grass types are not good against flying types.

So they're both a living animal and a plant. I never heard of such a thing before. There's always something new you can learn from these pokemon.

Falkner? Oh right the gym challenge. Well, I don't think I'm going to be challenging him anytime soon but thank you for the advice! I'm Yayoi by the way.

Yeah, it's pretty weird, but then again, so is all of Johto.

And yeah, I know what you mean. I'm going to be challenging him in a couple of days at the most, but I've already been here for almost a year and a half now.

I don't quite remember what happened when I had my own eggs...but I do remember that I put them in bed with me when I was sleeping. Tamashii helped look after them as well. I guess she made sure I didn't roll on them or anything... [Embarrassed look]

You have to keep it warm and safe, miss. If you want it to hatch faster, you have to keep it with you.

It won't hatch in the box.

I guess if they really are like normal eggs, the same rules would apply with pokemon ones too. It's kind of weird thinking some of these pokemon that look like regular animals that they come from eggs.

You'll get use to it, it's really cool actually. It's just like being in Morning land, all sorts of animals come out of eggs there.

If I had any advice, I would say don't drop it! Well... Other than that, Yamato is more of an expert at raising things than me.
