[The feed starts focused on some green grass until there's a closeup shot of a Mareep. Suddenly there's a girl's voice and the sound of rushed footsteps coming closer.]

Candy--! You shouldn't be wandering away like that! Oh, it's on...

[Someone picks up the pokegear and it's a young middle school-aged girl.]

U-uh, Hi. My name's Yayoi Kise....and this is Candy. [The Mareep jumps into Yayoi's arm and of course her Static ability activates and...]

KYAA! I-I'm okay....I've been hit by worse... [There's still some linger static and her eye twitched but she'll live. She clears her throat.]

Um, anyway it's nice to meet you. And is there anyone who help me about this "breeding" stuff? I didn't get all of it the first time around.

Hi hi Yayoi, I'm Menma! That sheep is so cute...! I dunno about breeding, except that they make eggs and everyone can get them! [ SO... HELPFUL... ]

Nice to meet you, Menma! Eggs...oh yes the book did mention seem to say something like that. It's so weird to think all these pokemon come from eggs.

Yup, but all eggs are different and colorful, and you can make them hatch by taking them with you at all times! Someone said it depends on how many steps you take, or... something like that.

How many steps... I never heard of hatching an egg like that but I guess if that's how it works, I'm not going to complain. Still, it's pretty strange.

It's strange, but it's also very fun! Everything here is fun, you're going to find it out by yourself!

[Candy looks up at Yayoi, sensing the sadness in very voice. The breeder pats the Mareep on the head. Despite the tiny static shock she got in return, she smiles.]

So how long have you been here?

It'll be all right... Time stands still when we leave, so when you go back, it's kind of like you never left... sort of.

Um... I've actually lost track of how long I've been here... I think I've gone through at least two winters...?

[Give her a second to let it all sink in. She does sigh in relief.]

Thank you. That really puts me at ease. I got pulled here while something really important to me happened.

W-what? That's kind of unfair to judge like that.

[ She shakes her head. An impeccably-groomed, glossy Houndour comes and takes a seat beside her. ]

And how will you take responsibility for your failures, then? New, inbred lives will come into existence on your account! Are you really prepared for the resulting training? The shame? The child welfare payments?

[ Okay, that last one's an exaggeration. ]

Well, your willingness to learn does you credit, I suppose. Misguided good intentions might yet produce better results than the usual haphazard profligation.

[Ooh nice Houndour. Oh wait, she's getting distracted.]

Inbreeding? Oh no I wouldn't do that. That's why I'm asking so I won't make those mistakes. A book can only tell you much compared to personal experience. I'm going to do my best even if I make mistakes. I'll take care of my pokemon and make sure some of them find a good trainer too.

Firstly, you mentioned something about a "book". I presume this means you received written instructions. While your distrust of anything handed to you by this disorganized an operation betrays a surprising amount of discretion, I urge you not to belittle the written word. Formal guidelines remain humanity's sole point of separation from their more primal kin, their first ascension out of the evolutionary morass, and should both be respected and followed accordingly. Should your understanding of this manual fall short, you have only yourself to blame.

[ Scanty begins to pace, one finger raised in the air for emphasis. ]

Anyway, I guess I could tell you a bit about pokémon breeding. I haven't done most of it myself, though. At least the actual getting them to make eggs part, I've done plenty of taking care of them though.

[She's been getting a lot of that lately but it's okay.]

Nice to meet you, Hikari and thank you! I had such an abrupt awakening here so I couldn't catch everything right off the bat. I've heard about pokemon trainers but not so much about breeders.

Yeah. Everyone seems to focus more on the trainers than the breeders. But well, it's not like we still can't do a lot of the same things that Trainers do too.

Though some things are easier for us, our pokémon can use HM moves without us having the badges. That really helps out a lot.

HM moves like Fly and Surf... That is awesome. Hm, now I'm going to need decide which pokemon I can use. There's so many choices.

[She giggles.]

Don't worry, I'm sure you'll find a lot of pokémon that you like!

I hope so. It'd be fun to see all these pokemon in real life! And of course Candy here is a favorite of mine.

[The mareep happily cries out and snuggle against her master.]

Yeah, it was actually. I've play a few games but I follow lots of other things too.

I think it was also one in mine, but I never got around to playing it myself. It still wasn't that difficult to get used to though, at least.

*Ah, it's that magical girl who is a name twin with his girlfriend... Though she seems to have rebooted, so probably shouldn't mention any of that out loud!*

I'm not a breeder myself, but the point, as far as I know, is to breed the strongest pokemon you can.

Makes sense. Still, it must be tough. I should find a type to specialize in or something.

[Yayoi would've responded if Candy hadn't decided to be a camera hog. The Mareep bleats happily.]

That answers the question. I bet the 'gear would handle it, but if it can't, you can just take it to a Pokecenter for fixing.
